Anything is possible

In the early hours of this morning, Chris Nikic completed his first full Ironman. Nothing unusual there you might think… except when Chris crossed the line in 16 hours 46 minutes and 9 seconds, he made history by becoming the FIRST Down Syndrome Ironman to ever cross the line.

“My mission is to honor God by being the best me I can be so I can be an example to others. I want to change the perceptions and raise expectations for others like me so we can reach our God given potential. Believe and Achieve by Getting 1% Better.

Chris is a 20-year old with Down Syndrome and after completing an Olympic Triathlon in January, we set himself three goals by the  age of 21:

1. IRONMAN 70.3 by May 2020 – DONE

2. IRONMAN 140.6 by Nov 2020 – DONE

3. Publish a book – 1% Better – In Progress

“My story will inspire you to BELIEVE you can achieve more with a simple PLAN I follow to build a 1% Better HABITIf I can achieve so much with so little so fast, IMAGINE what YOU can do?”

  • Over the last 14 months, Chris has completed:
  • August 2019 Spring Triathlon in 1:41
  • January 2020 Olympic Triathalon in 4:25
  • May 202 70.3 Half Ironman in 8:25
  • AND now he has added a 140 Ironman in 16:46

1% better every day for a year of the impossible!

1% Better” Challenge

Chris has been doing the 1% challenge for the last 2 years in his journey to complete his Ironman and now he’s asking us all to accept the challenge for 30 days:

  1. Ask 1% more of yourselves every day for 30 days
  2. Help someone with Special Needs to do the same

Each year, a select group of athletes from around the world race through the IRONMAN Foundation’s Your Journey, Your Cause program to support the charities of our choice. Chris’s charities include Down Syndrome, RODS and Special Olympics. Together, they share a passion to create positive tangible change in the world and prove that “Anything Is Possible.” We #RaceForMore.

Chris has so far raised a staggering $38,661 so if you have any pennies to spare, please jump over to his page and show him some love.

On a day when the words “Don’t lead by an example of power but by the power of example” have been spoken,  Chris is a leading example of how we should all live our lives and if we put our minds to it, anything is possible!

Chris we salute you!
