What a weekend!!
3 full days of craziness, running, shopping and LOTS of fun with over 22,000 people!
Thursday was our set-up day ready for the exhibitors to arrive bright and early the following day. Everything ran smoothly and when our alarms went off at 4.30am on Friday morning with the sun blazing, we all knew we were in for a fab 2 days of all things running.
Armed with our traditional McDonald breakfast, the shutters for the Loading Bay opened at 5.55am and the first of the exhibitors started to arrive.
Friday is usually the ‘quiet day’ of around 5,000 visitors but not this year. As we gave the go-ahead to let visitors in at 1pm, it looked like the start of the following days 5k race as visitors rushed through the doors to pick up their Race Packets and visit the 60 plus stands we had at the Expo. This year, we also 5,000 goody bags to give away. The bags were provided by Runderwear and included a sports gel by Manuka Sports, Jointace vitamins by Vitabiotics and Squashers by Swizzels – these went down a treat and literally flew out!
This year we introduced a couple of new feature stands such as free Yoga Classes by Katie Brown Yoga and a Treatment Room by Sports Therapists from Sports Injury Fix. These went down a storm with new and experience runners joining in with the yoga classes and those with niggles having sports massages or consultations about injuries they were carrying.
Friday ran smoothly all day with a steady flow of visitors and over 6,000 visitors throughout the day.
Saturday was another early start with the doors opening to the public at 8am. Saturday is the ‘crazy’ day as over 15,000 people flood the hall throughout the day.
Saturday is also the 5k element of the weekend and this is what makes the RunFit Expo unique as the 5k actually finishes INSIDE the Expo. As with previous year’s, our Managing Director ‘sneaked’ out of the Expo to take part in the race as he led Mr Bobby (aka one of the Guest Speakers Ian Jones) around the course. This year they was also joined by another Guest Speakers, Tissy Brignall so there was lots of high-fiving and photo bombing opportunities along the way.

Andy Grant was a favourite last year so we invited him back to talk about his best-selling book ‘You’ll Never Walk’.
And one of the main highlights of the weekend was Instagrammers Kelly Ruck @kellogs_ontherun, Matt Rees @thewelshrunner, Becca Burns @thisbunnyruns and Tissy Brignall @tissyb1991 joining the stage with Esther Newman, Women’s Running magazine’s fab Editor for a Q&A session.

The Expo was even bigger than last year’s with an amazing line-up of companies getting
involved. Stands were full, products were flying out and many runners left with big smiles on their faces having bagged themselves a bargain or too … even our M.D. couldn’t resist as every time we needed her, we found her handing over her credit card to one of the exhibitors 🙂
The whole 2 days was filled with fun and laughter, PBs were had, new friends were made, experiences were had and we can’t wait to do it again next …. even bigger and better!
So make sure you join us at the RunFit Expo next year – 22/23 May 2020 as you don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
